    Indians influenced the kingdoms by introducing Buddhism. The Pagan kingdom became a major Buddhist center along with the Khmer Empire.

    Indian rulers ruled or influenced the politics of Cambodia since 200 BC and both Hinduism and Buddhism migrated from India and both existed mutually. Eventually due to the decline of Hindu Khmer empire, Buddhism gained significance and became a predominant religion.
