The first president was John Adams, wall the first vice president was Thomas Jefferson. This was because in the election both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams got 73 votes, therefore, one of them had to be vice president. This was sent to the House of Representatives and they decided that Thomas Jefferson should be the vice president.
