The political movement that supported graduated income tax, leaving the gold standard and banking reforms, was the Populist Movement. This movement was created by the union of Farmers' Alliances among the South and West part of the U. S, made to widen their cope and become more effective. They were mostly agrarian-oriented, and besides the demands said already, they were also asking for the direct election of U. S. senators and a tariff for revenue only.
