Nixon remained defiant throughout the Watergate break-in affair investigation and denied any involvement in the scandal or responsibilities.

    Explanation:

In a televised declaration during a press conference on November 17, 1973, Nixon famously adressed the nation, " ... because people have got to know whether or not their president is a crook. Well, I'm not a crook. I've earned everything I've got."

During the investigation, it was revealed that Nixon was abusing his authority to stay in power, had installed a secret recording system in the White House and attempted break-in of the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Washington, D. C. Watergate Office Building.

He was the first American president that resigned the function and he did it after the investigation was finalised.
