What is the difference between "Seperations of Powers" and "Checks and Balances

    the separation of power in the american government is what created the three branches - judicial, legislative and executive - abd gave them each distinct functions. Checks and Balances is what "assures" that not one power is in control of everything so that the tyranny of past rulers is not practiced in America.
