Which sentence below best describes the factory working conditions during the Industrial Revolution?

1. Wages for an individual male factory worker were not enough for a family to get by on. Usually another person had to work, which often ended up being a woman or child. They were paid less to do the same work as the men, and working conditions were very poor.

2. Factory work became more popular than farming because it allowed for a man to support his family on his own. Plus there were incentives for hard work. The higher production output was, the higher the wages workers were paid by their employer.
