Answer: b. Many of the Rough Riders refused to join in the fighting.

The Rough Riders were a regiment that was originally created to fight in the Spanish-American War. The regiment was also called "Wood's Weary Walkers" due to Colonel Leonard Wood. The Rough Riders later became "Roosevelt's Rough Riders." These men were usually college students, cowboys, ranchers, miners and other men skilled at horsemanship.
