20th century leaders began to push for universal human rights protections as a result of the terrors and violations of the human rights during the World War II.

The international community was determined to unite and prevent the things that happened in the World War II to never happen again. During this war, tens of millions of people died, both soldiers and civilians. Large portion of the civilians that died was because of Nazism, hatred, or opposing an assimilation, like the Germans did to the Jews, Gypsies, and Slavs, the Japanese to the Han Chinese and Manchu people, The Turkish to the Armenians, the Bulgarians to the Macedonians, and numerous other examples.

The idea was to form an organization that will mediate between the countries, stick together, and not allow any wars to happen again, which gave rise to the United Nations.
