In regard to regulating companies, Roosevelt wanted them to serve the public in the best way possible.

Theodore Roosevelt, who was the U. S. president from 1901 to 1909, always ruled the country with the great aspiration of creating a more equal and fair society. He believed that equality could only be achieved if the government offered the same economic possibilities to all citizens. For that reason, he changed the government's relationship to big businesses by regulating them so that they could not affect the public in a negative way.
