    In the Jim Crow south, the blacks would work for the whites and as caregivers for their children.

    There were literacy tests made for black voters that were very hard which prevented alot of black people from voting. White people would not hire black people at all or they would deny service to them even if their own store was in a place mainly populated by african americans.
