Someone who has been found innocent of murder, for instance, can not be brought to court again for the same murder. They also have the right to remain silent so that they do not self-incriminate. Eminent Domain defends a citizen from having their property taken without compensation. For instance, if the government wants land from a citizen, they can not just take it, they must make an offer for it. These laws keep the government from becoming too powerful.
