    They are almost equally as important, because when taking a decision, both costs and benefits need to be taken into account. They should be assessed realistically.

    Costs should always have a bit more weight when making a decision because costs tend to be more certain than benefits. Benefits are usually things that can be obtained only in the future, and only as long as certain preconditions are met, while costs always have to be incurred.
