    Reconstruction was process that occurred in the period of 1865-1877 which followed the American civil war. It is during this period when efforts were made to address problem of inequality as a result of slavery and bad political and social economical policies in the U. S. Reconstruction was geared towards finding solutions to challenges caused by states admission to the Union. Thaddeus Stevens and Charles Sumner were the leaders of this group that advocated for rights to vote for African Americans through offering support to the Reconstruction Bill.
