In addition to the question of social inequality between whites and blacks, following the defeat and subsequent political-economic recession in the South, many confederates migrated to other regions of the United States, seeking to escape not only from the economic recession, but also from persecution and discrimination which followed against the confederate population, causing the Southerners to feel the suffering that social inequality causes. This flight consisted of the largest population exodus in US history.
