What was the effect of segregation on businesses for African Americans

African american businesses recieved less income, less customers, and often times had to shut down from debts.

African Americans were relegated to certain positions in organizations. They were also paid less for working in a position in which their main counterparts earned a considerable greater amount.

In regards to businesses that were owned and operated by African Americans, they were labeled as businesses who existed exclusively to serve African Americans.
