    In order to become the President of the US you must have a majority of 270 electoral votes. There are 538 electoral votes in total.

    The electoral college is made up of a panel of individuals that will vote for a particular candidate. Does not even have to be one of the current candidates running. Where the pubic voters vote for an individual. The electoral college vote for whom they feel is right for the country. The number of electors of each state will equal the number of Congressmen they have.
