    Juan de Padilla was a Spanish Roman catholic priest that went on an exploration with Francisco Coronado to North America on a quest to discovering the Mystical seven cities of gold. during the several explorations of North America for the cities of Gold Francisco Coronado gave up the quest and Juan de Padilla and the others who accompanied them gave up as well.

    But they later migrated on another quest to discover gold in a land known as Quivira but stopped and camped near a village known as Wichita after a year later Padilla came back and established a mission and the establishment of the mission led to the death of Padilla and the discovery of a direct route from new Spain to the city.
