Grocery stores, bakeries, and pharmacies were all businesses

In early America, grocery stores, bakeries, and pharmacies were business that suffered heavy economic difficulties during the colonial times.

Due to the war with England, the American economy was in real trouble. After the war in 1781, the British restricted American exportations. The money loaned by the states produced debt, thus this created an economic crisis that impacted business like grocery stores, bakeries, and pharmacies.

Some states approved laws farmers and people to lessen the burden of debt. American economy relied so much in the hands of farmers.

In that scenario, people in some states had to work very hard to overcome the situation. In New England, they began to built ships and started navigation. Maryland grew Tobacco, and Virginia, rice.
