Haeden Edwards (1741-1849), was an aggressive land speculator that traveled to Mexico City with Stephen F. Austin, to persuade Mexican authorities the authorization to settle American people in Texas territory.

The evidence that his attempt to create his own colony was not in good faith is that he settled approximately 800 hundred people in Nacogdoches, Texas, but most of that people were squatters, and authorities proceeded to take it away.

He was upset by the situation because he has invested $50,000 to secure the land. He started what he called the Fredonian Rebellion, and was arrested in november, 1826.
