    C. was not ready to give up on Truman's domestic agenda.

    Explanation:

The 1948 presidential election saw the victory of president Harry S. Truman, who defeated Republican Governor Thomas E. Dewey. This was a great surprise, as the polls had predicted the victory of Dewey. Truman had encountered a lot of problems when he took the presidency from Roosevelt, and it was predicted that he would not be able to hold unto it once more. However, Truman won 49.6% of the popular vote compared to Dewey's 45.1%.

    C. was not ready to give up on Truman's domestic agenda.

Truman, a Democrat, was reelected in 1948. He's predecessor was also a Democrat, Roosevelt.

The 1948 election was notable for many reasons; first, every prediction was that the Republican candidate, Thomas E. Dewey would win.

Although the Democrats had a three-way split in the party, Dewey's choice for a vague speech (led by the certainty of win) contrasting with Truman harsh critics towards the Congress which he labeled "do-nothing, good-for-nothing 80th Republican Congress." and mostly, the fact that in 1948 happened an economic recovery, after a slightly recession in '46 and '47, with inflation rates by 15%, made Truman domestic agenda and approach determinant in the 1948 election.
