Why were creoles in Latin America motivated to revolt against Spain and Portugal

    There are many reasons. For starters, many were of European heritage and wanted to be as aristocratic as their Spanish and Portuguese rulers because of the wealth they accumulated. Many were also inspired by Enlightenment ideas, ideas of democracy and republics, and similar.
