    Abolitionists worried about the spread of slavery.

    Among the motives for opposition to Manifest Destiny was the abolitionist preoccupation with the spread of slavery around the world. Women did not even have political power and farmers would gain from this process. So also the entrepreneurs, who would expand their consumer market.
