Why did earlier historians consider the medieval period the "dark ages"? A. The time had no electricity and so it was an age that was quite dark. B. The era seemed less important than the Renaissance and the Roman Empire. C. Castles were very dark and did not let in much light. D. The power of the Church stamped out the many bright pagan rituals.

    The main reason why earlier historians considered the medieval period the "dark ages" was because "B. The era s eemed less important than the Renaissance and the Roman Empire" The fact is that related to the two major eras around it, there just wasn't anything truly interesting going on during this time.
