What naval warfare led the United States to the brink of war in Europe?

    It was in the War of 1812 where the warships and the privateers of both sides pushed and attacked each other's merchant ships. The British blockaded the Atlantic coast of the United States. From there, they mounted a large-scale raids in the later stages of the war.
