The aim of the Spanish empire was to convert the Natives into Christians/Catholics. Many Spanish believed that the Native Americans had large amounts of gold which they could get their hands on if the converted the Native Americans to Catholicism.

The French also wanted to convert the Native Americans. The Jesuit Priests were the most peaceful and effective missionaries. The Dutch, on the other hand, were only interested in economic growth. They were not interested in developing relationships with the Native Americans at all.
