Why were the 1920s an era of conservatism?

    the 1920 was not a conservative era, It could be the considered the first era of Sex, Drugs, and Rock and roll, after all skirts got shorter, at that time women didn't even show there ankles, and suddenly the dress length was just below the knee, prohibition was law in the USA, so people drank in seedy places called speakeasies, and Jazz was the music of the times. We may think it was conservative but if you had lived at the time it was not, it was a radical time to live.
