To enforce the Proclamation of 1763, Parliament passed the Indian Intercourse Acts. This was a series of acts which prohibited unregulated trade and travel in Native American lands. The Proclamation of 1763 forbade all settlement past a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains and was culturally important for First Nations in Canada and Native Americans in the United States.
