    In 1817, Brazilians invaded the territory of the Banda Oriental (now Uruguay lands). A few years later uprising started, which supported Argentina interested in the inclusion of these lands. It has become a cause of conflict between the two countries in 1825. On 20 February 1827 the battle of Ituzaingo Argentine-Uruguayan army defeated the Brazilian. Despite the failure of Brazilians began a naval blockade of the capital of Argentina - Buenos Aires. Lock threatened British commercial interests, which almost led them into joining the conflict. In the end in 1828 in Montevideo peaceful arrangement was signed, both sides recognized the independence of Uruguay.
