Can anyone explain the divisions in sumerian society?

    On the top of the Summarian society stool the lu-gal, or the king. The Summerians had a class of free people and of slaves. The free people were called "lu" and only married men were lu, else they were classified as sons of lu. Women had a status depending on their fathers or husbands.
