Who was Mohandas Gandhi?

He was a the leader of the Indian nationalist movement against British control and is sometimes referred to as the father of his country. He was very influential, using non-violent protesting to earn India's independence. He fought for equality and to end discrimination. he was a very inspirational man but was assassinated in the year 1948 in Delhi after trying to end Hindu-Muslim conflict. He was 78 years of age.
