September 11, 2001 what happened

On September 11th, 2001, what is often called 9/11 in the US the World Trade Center, or Twin Towers were each hit with airplanes that had been hijacked. This, was only a part of what happened. Another hijacked plane was flown into the Pentagon, located in Arlington County, Virginia, US. A fourth plane was also hijacked, it's target/destination was the White House. Passengers were able to fight the terrorists, causing it to crash in Pennsylvania. The death total was nearly 3,000 from all of these events, including just over 2,600 in the Towers, as well as over 100 in the Pentagon, and 265 whom were passengers on the planes.
