The Battle of Yorktown was the last battle of the revolutionary war when Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington. The British were surrounded by the French navy on the sea and the Patriots on land. As a result, the Treaty of Paris, signed in 1783, was created telling the world that America was independent and the British would remove all rule over them.
