What was "normalcy" and why were Americans in favor of it?

    This "normalcy" was defined as returning to a normal life, like the one before World War I. This was part of Warren G. Harding's campaign while running for presidency in 1920. He said that things would "return to normalcy" and the American people favored it because they wanted the state of pre-war America back.
