What two reasons did the Church give for declaring Galileo Was a heretic?

    The first reason was because he claimed that the sun is the center of the universe which the Church believed was heretical as it opposed what was written in the holy scriptures. The second was that he stated that Earth moves around the sun and is not immovable as was believed, but this was deemed heretical also due to holy scriptures.
