What was the purpose of the Office of War Information?

The USA Office of War Information was created in June 1942 and operated until September 1945. Its major purpose was to spread propaganda about war efforts both inside and outside the country. It spreaded disinformation through newspapers, radio, posters, movies etc. There were also some overseas branches of the Office to make the propaganda even larger and more disinformative.
