Latin is not considered as the vernacular language of the Middle Ages. Vernacular languages are languages that are spoken in a small area and can be incomprehensible in other areas. latin was the language of the Roman Empire which could be comprehended by numerous people across boundaries. Latin was the only language that was spoken and written all across western Europe and it also has a gramatical structure. Latin also had perfect spellings written to be used by most people. So it was never a vernacular language during the Middle ages.
