How did the slave trade impact Africa?

Despite population loss due to the slave trade, Africa became very powerful due to military protection and weapons received from Europe.

Because of trade negotiations through triangular trade, African leaders formed new political bonds with other nations and became super powers in the region.

Even though millions of Africans were enslaved, due to new crops that improved Africans' health, the slave trade did not reduce the overall population of Africa.

Africa's population decreased dramatically due to the number of slaves sold and forced to involuntarily migrate from Africa to the Americas.
