Why did most of the fighting in the Civil War take place around Richmond, Virginia and Washington, D. C.? A. There was a huge stock pile of Confederate weapons in the area that the Union was trying to capture. B. The goal of the Confederates and the Union was to caputre the other side's capital city. C. The Union Army liked the land in the area and were more comfortable fighting there.
