    One of the main ways in which the Renaissance contributed to the rediscovery of classical civilization and the development of vernacular literature is that it put the focus back on "man"--in the sense that a rediscovered fascination with the mind and body was present, which replaced lots of the attention that had been placed primarily on God during the Middle Ages.
