The history of Brazil can actually be divided into five stages. First, being characterized by the constitution of the military dictatorship as political regime from 1964-1968. Second is the regime consolidation from 1969 - 1974. The third stage is the Geisel administration also called as regime transformation from 1974-1979 followed by the fourth stage of dissolution from 1979-1985. The last stage, is the transition to a liberal-democratic regime from 1985-1989.
