The effect of the Boston Tea Party was the lower the tax on the tea just a little bit. The president wanted let ships go into the colony and he wouldn't let ships out. What all started the Boston tea party was the tax so the colonist thought they needed to do something about it so they poured over 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor.
