The main impact of the invention of the cotton gin in 1793 was on productivity. The cotton gin is a machine that quickly and easily separates cotton fibers from their seeds. This makes it quicker to produce, as manually producing makes it time-consuming and evidently much less of it will be produced. However, another effect but more of a historical effect was that it created the American Civil War because as the demand grew, more slaves were employed to employ the machine.
