In the mid-2000s, as a result of the Afghan people's anger toward the United States, the Taliban began to regain control over some areas. more citizens began to vote in democratic elections. more freedoms were given to the women of Afghanistan. the rebuilding process in the country began to accelerate.

This enabled the Taliban to take back some of the land that they had lost previously and to get more support from the people who wanted to be free from the US.
