    I'm assuming that these are multiple choices

    A) It was a time of cultural change

    B) It was a time of economic hardships

    C) It was a time of rising Communism

    D) It was a time of cultural enrichment by immigrants

    E) It was a time of economic recession

    In this case it would either be (B) economic hardships because during this time people were cheating the system or (A) cultural change because jazz and swing were on the rise. It wouldn't be C, that comes a long time later, and D would also be false, because not a lot of immigrants were coming since the war had just ended. Also, the economic recession doesn't really hit hard until towards the end of the 20's ...
