As president, what was George W. Bush's main accomplishment regarding immigration? He proposed and signed into law a guest worker program. He succeeded in ending illegal immigration into the United States. He authorized a 700-mile-long fence along the US border with Mexico.     The answer is he authorized the 700 mile long fence. On September 29, 2006, by a poll of 80-19 the U. S. Senate established H. R. 6061 approving, and partly backing the "conceivable" construction of 700 miles (1,125 km) of bodily fence/fences along the border.
