What role did mercantilism affect the growth of colonies in the americas

    The ideas of mercantilism inspired all the oppressive legislation parliament issued in colonial times including the sugar act and the stamp act. they were to force the colonists to trade solely with great Britain.

    The overall effect though, I would say, would be the revolution.
