    The land of Brazil became the settlement of an African colony composed of runway slaves. This group was called the Songhay. Songhay was one of the empire that emerged in West Africa. Originally, its capital was the Gao near the Niger river. They then expanded until reaching other parts of the globe including Brazil and other parts near the Atlantic Ocean.
