The United States fought in World War II to defeat dictators and preserve democracy. In this fight to defend democracy, however, the United States denied democracy to some of its own citizens. Describe how it happened and who was denied rights.

I do believe Japanese-Americans were denied their rights, but I do not know how to describe how they ended up denying their own citizens rights.

Japanese-American citizens were denied their rights and sent to internment camps, as the government believed that some of them were working with the Japanese government, and could feed intel back to them. At the end of the war, however, these citizens were released.
