America was once referred to as a social experiment because the founder's of the United States were trying out a new form of government never before seen in the court's and governments of Europe. America is unique in having three branches of government that all contribute to the making and carrying out of the laws while other countries may just have one or two. This "social experiment" was thought by some to be a massive failure, but others were hopeful that everything would work out without a hitch. America's social experiment may be going on still, but that's up to you to decide.
