Describe the government of Ancient Rome

It was rough. like really rough

The aristocrats were known as patricians. the highest positions in government were two consuls (or leaders) who ruled over the Republic. A senate made up of patricians elected the consuls. at the time, lower class, or plebeians, had no say in their government.
